Hurricane relief efforts wind up
It clawed its way across the Caribbean in August and by the time it hit Florida, Hurricane Ivan was one of the most devastating storms in history. This week two Belizean organisations expressed their thanks to those who donated money, goods and services to help those people adversely affected. The Caribbean Hurricane Ivan Appeal of the Belize Red Cross collected just under forty-five thousand dollars, which has been forwarded to the International Red Cross headquarters for distribution. At the same time, the Belize City Lions Club worked directly to help its counterpart club in St. George’s Grenada. The Belizean Lions raised almost five thousand dollars in cash along with in-kind contributions of thirty-eight thousand dollars, which included food, clothing and building materials. The donation was sent directly to the Lions Club in Grenada for distribution.
