Pedestrian killed in W. Hwy. knockdown
A pedestrian is dead after being hit by a pickup truck on the Western Highway. According to police reports, sixty-year-old George Francis was struck around six thirty Thursday night between miles two and three, near the Belize Waste Control dump site. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. The driver of the pickup, fifty-four year old Adolfo Pate of Young Bank in the Cayo District, told investigating officers that he was heading west when Francis suddenly tried to cross the road and he could not avoid hitting him. Pate’s Mitsubishi pickup has been impounded and police have served him with a notice of intended prosecution.
