Lord Rhaburn Music Awards set for Friday

Story PictureOn Friday night, Belizean music lovers will take a step back in time as an all star line-up will take the stage at the Bliss Centre for Performing Arts to serenade their audience with the classics that made them famous. The event is called the Lord Rhaburn Music Awards Show and will recognise local singers, songwriters, and performers for their contribution to culture. While some of the names on the ticket won’t have far to travel, others have been imported from their residences abroad. This afternoon News 5 joined Lord Rhaburn at the Phillip Goldson International Airport as he greeted old friends.

Bella Carib

?I would love to tell all my Belizean family out there that it?s a pleasure once again to visit my great home Belize. You?ll be seeing much more of me.?

Percival ?Prof? Drummond

?I was there from the beginning. I?ve been away now for over twenty-fives years. But he insisted that I come for this trip and that?s why I?m in here.?

Junie Crawford

?My name is Junie Crawford and I am here to perform at the grand award show that is happening tomorrow and I?m looking forward to see the fans. I am looking forward to see everyone. I am very excited to be here and I hope it?s going to be a good one.?

Ben McKoy

?My name is Ben McKoy and I?m glad to be home for this big show. Short and sweet, just tell them the ?Monkey Man? is in town.?

Anthony Richards

?Hello Belizeans, my name is Anthony Richards and as you all know, I am the sweet Belizean boy and I am here to perform for you. I want to wish each and every one of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.?

Gerald ?Lord? Rhaburn

?I wanted to do it long time, but I never had the happiness to do it. I never had the backing to do it.?

?We got the support from all the people who helped to finance it. So now we need the support of the audience–we also need the support of the people to come out and support this. These are their own musicians, their own artists and want everybody to be there.?

Janelle Chanona

?What can people expect when they go to the show??

Gerald ?Lord? Rhaburn

?Well you know we always have a saying to say that our local artists cannot fit the bill of the foreign artists. Now they are out to prove that they are as good.?

Other artists scheduled to perform at the Bliss on Friday night include Zoila Clarke, Lela Vernon, Jenny Lovell, Pablo Clarke, Sam Hamilton, Pupa Curly, Michael Usher and Chico Ramos. Tickets for the event are on sale at CY’s, the Record Shack, Kings Records, Stone Jam Musiq Outlet, Brodies and the Bliss Box Office.
