GSU on City Anti-Drug Operations

The Gang Suppression Unit was involved in four anti-drugs operations in various areas of the City on Monday. At noon the Unit searched the house of alleged drug peddler Elvis Aldana on Rivero Street, Belize City. Aside from Aldana, Tyra Tillett, a resident of Crooked Tree, Marco Zelaya and Joseph Lopez, both of Belize City, were present during the search. A black plastic bag containing twenty-eight point five grams of cannabis were found on the sofa. The trio was arrested and charged offence of Possession of Controlled Drugs. On Monday night, the GSU also conducted a search in an abandoned garage located on Plues Street. There they found an automatic pistol with six live rounds. According to the unit, the firearm is the property of Bradley Paumen of Belmopan, who is on remand at the prison on an Abetment to Murder charge. The GSU notes that the firearm was found in the George Street Gang Turf. The officers then headed to an open lot at the corner of West Canal and Rocky Road where they found two point four pounds of weed, believed to belong to affiliates of the George Street Gang. No arrests were made. Also on Monday night, in operations at the corner of Flamboyant Street and Fern Lane, six live rounds of nine millimeter ammunition were found.  There were no arrests since no one was in the area, but the ammo is believed to belong to members of the PIV gang.
