Murder in San Pedrito: A Man is Mutilated and Another Clings to Life
There was a gruesome, bloody murder in San Pedro in broad daylight Saturday afternoon. It happened at a home in the San Pedrito Area of the island and involved alcohol, a machete and a large knife. According to reports, three men were drinking at an apartment belonging to Jose Alfredo Villeda. Villeda and another man, Sergio Giovanni Uribio, got into an argument and then into an altercation. Best information is that Villeda pulled a knife and inflicted two mortal wounds on Uribio, one to the left side of the neck and the other to the left arm. Bleeding badly, Uribio then got hold of a machete and lashed out at Villeda, inflicting a large cut wound to his face, to the left knee, right leg and partially severing his left wrist and chopping off a finger. After that chopping frenzy Uribio lay dead on the floor, while Villeda clung to life. He was airlifted to the K.H.M.H. and is in critical condition.
ACP Joseph Myvette, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
“San Pedro Police responded to the San Pedro Polyclinic where they saw Sergio Giovanni Uribio suffering from stab wounds to the neck. He later passed away at the Clinic. Also observed was Jose Alfredo Villeda suffering from chop wounds across his body. In this case he is believed to be the suspect and he is currently under Police guard. This first incident seemingly arose out of an altercation between the two which resulted in the chopping and stabbing.”
Villeda is currently under Police guard at the K.H.M.H. If or when he recovers, he will likely be charged for the murder of Uribio.
