Belize does well in Broadcasting Awards
Belize has again represented well in the Caribbean Broadcasting Awards. The competition, organised by the Caribbean Broadcasting Union, recognizes excellence in radio and television production across the region’s English, Spanish, Dutch and French speaking territories. Winning the prize for Best Environmental reporting were News 5’s Janelle Chanona and George Tillett for their story on an Iguana breeding programme in Cayo, while Tillett and James Adderley teamed to win top honours in the sports category for their coverage of the Holy Saturday cycling race. Each category carried a prize of a thousand Belize dollars along with a trophy. A number of other entries were recognized as finalists including news stories by Jacqueline Woods and Stewart Krohn as well as ads and public service announcements by Denvor Fairweather of Thirteen Productions. The entire Caribbean Broadcasting Awards will be broadcast tonight at nine right here on Channel 5.
