Debate Organizers Say Public Can Submit Questions

Glenn Tillett

With the debate scheduled for January twenty-eight, there are a number of questions concerning the planning and moderation of the event.  Tillett says it is an open process where the public is being asked to submit questions prior to the debate.

Glenn Tillett, Organizer, Political Debate

“We are soliciting questions from the general public and from organizations.  So it’s not so much what I want to know, it’s what the general public, the citizens of this country want to know.  And I am sure that the questions will range literally from perhaps what we might think is ridiculous to the sublime.  From what we might think may be a bit profane to what we will know is profound.”

Isani Cayetano

“How does such an exercise help to change the perception that may be out there of the People’s United Party and the apparent lack of unity within the organization?”

Glenn Tillett

“Perception depends on who you talk to, you know.  I think, generally, an exercise like this will redown to the benefit of the People’s United Party in that it will be showing political maturity.  I think it will help enhance the political discourse that we have every day and I think anytime you can air issues and you can understand positions on them.  The leaders, understand their considerations, how they reach positions.  It has to help you as a citizen because it gives you some idea, some more certainty what it’s going to be like going forward.”

Isani Cayetano

“In any debate there may not necessarily be a winner or a loser but you have those who present stronger points, more salient points than others.  Do you think that whomever comes out on top, in a sense, would have an advantage in terms of becoming the next leader of the People’s United Party?”

Glenn Tillett

“I am sure that a strong performance by any or all of the candidates will help them in terms of their political career, certainly in their present capacities as area representatives.  These are all, you could say, professional politicians.  These are people who have been politicians and political leaders for the last two decades.”

Tillett says that the media has been invited to carry it live, but attendance at the event is by invitation only.
