All clear for Cayo chickens
Several weeks ago, we reported on concerns expressed by health officials over some diseased chickens observed at a farm near Spanish lookout. We are happy to report that following investigations by the Belize Agricultural Health Authority, the quarantine placed on that farm has been lifted. Tests of the birds, which had been found with excess fluid in their abdomens, registered negative for viruses and bacteria. BAHA food safety inspectors will continue to inspect all poultry processed for slaughter in Belize.
