Edward P. Yorke Cafeteria Burglar Identified
Tonight, the man accused of burglarizing the Cafeteria at Edward P. Yorke High School has been identified as Julian Edward Cowling. Cowling, a resident of Belize City was arraigned this afternoon before Magistrate Deborah Rogers for burglary and handling stolen goods. He is accused of stealing chocolate, chips, an assortment soft drinks, juices, snacks, water, exercise books, geometry set, construction supplies, and food…all to a total of nine hundred and fifty dollars. He was additional accused of handling stolen goods after he handed over the stolen item to the police. Cowling pleaded not guilty to burglary, but guilty to handling stolen goods. Magistrate Rogers fined him eight hundred dollars and was ordered to pay the school cafeteria compensation in the sum of three hundred dollars. Since the prosecution did not withdraw the burglary charge, he was granted him bail in the sum of one thousand dollars which he met this afternoon.
