Two injured in Stann Creek bus knockdown

Two children from the Stann Creek District have been seriously injured after they were hit by a bus. Nine year old Kendy Castellanos and thirteen year old Roni Sanchez were attempting to cross the Valley Road in Alta Vista Village on Sunday afternoon when they were struck by the Southern Transport bus. Driver Javier Flores told police that he was heading toward Dangriga and saw the pair trying to cross the highway but could not stop in time to avoid hitting them. Castellanos was treated for chest pains and released, but Sanchez lies in serious condition at the KHMH with a broken arm and severe head injuries. Charges against the driver are awaiting further investigation and a full medical report on the victims’ injuries.
