Villager murdered in armed robbery

Another murder, this time in the village of La Democracia, has left a community in shock, after one of their own was attacked on Thursday night. According to authorities, forty-nine year old Hansel Smith was shot to death during an armed robbery at his house around eight thirty on Thursday night. According to the victim’s common-law wife Carol Lamb, there was a knock at the door and Smith got up to investigate. But within minutes of her husband going outside, Lamb says she heard a gunshot. When she opened the door, she was confronted by five men, four of whom wore masks. Reports are that the unmasked man, brandishing a gun, demanded money, but when Lamb refused to comply, she was hit in the head with the firearm and the men forced their way inside. The group then proceeded to ransack the house taking jewelry and cellphones. As soon as the men left the scene, Lamb went to help her wounded husband. He had been shot three times in the back. Smith was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial hospital, but died while undergoing treatment. Up to news time tonight no arrests had been made in connection with this incident but police say they are seeking one person for questioning.
