Belmopan Police Bust Men With 30 Pounds of Marijuana
Two men were busted with a sizeable amount of marijuana while Belmopan Police were conducting vehicle checks on Wednesday in Camalote on the George Price Highway. Travis Sutherland of Georgeville and Anthony August of Santa Elena were travelling to the capital when they spotted the police checkpoint at about four-thirty in the morning. The men immediately sped off in the opposite direction, but police pursued their vehicle. One of the men, however, was seen throwing two bags out of vehicle. The police soon caught up with them and took them to where the items had landed. Inside the bigger bag they found three smaller bags and in the other bag they found a similar amount of bags. All in all, police say they found fourteen thousand five hundred and thirty-one grams of marijuana which is the equivalent of thirty-two pounds of weed. Sutherland and August have been charged with drug trafficking.
