3 charged in forgery of Minster’s cheques
Three people from the Belmopan area have been arrested on charges of forgery, following a report by Minister of Cooperatives and Fisheries Mike Espat. According to Espat, sometime between September twenty-eighth and November fourth, twenty-four leaves went missing from his checkbook. Police press officer G. Michael Reid says about seven of the checks were cashed, even though they were not authorized by Espat and did not bear his signature. Police have not released the exact amount of money that was drawn from the victim’s account. Investigations have led to the arrest of forty one year old Alejandro Avila and thirty-seven year old Eulin Bardalez of Belmopan and twenty-nine year old Bernard Rowland of Camalote village. All three are charged with four counts of claiming upon a forged document and three counts of obtaining property by deception.
