Story PictureJames Adderley, Reporting
Good evening, I’m James Adderley with this fresh delivery of Sports Monday. November twenty-sixth brings up Muscle Mania: a presentation by the Belize Amateur Body Building Association at the Princess Hotel featuring the only legitimate world-class adult athletes currently residing in this nation. We caught up with Vice President of the Belize Amateur Body Building Association Alfred McKenzie.

Alfred McKenzie, Vice President, BABBA
“Earlier this year was a prime up show, a pre-qualifier for the international show and this what is what we call the final show for the year. So it’s a bit smaller and at a lower level than Mr. Belize but it is also an important contest.”

Sutherland received third place in the last body building show internationally. Dillon Jones got third place also in the masters. Emry Ramirez got fifth place. Then you have guys like Deon Anderson, Guy Neal and you will probably see some of the other junior guys as well. You will see all these guys in action. They just came off this Body Building show in Guatemala City and as I said they did very well. These guys are continuing training and so they are in good shape. It should be a good show.

Don’t forget that date. It’s November twentieth at the Princess Hotel. It brings up prime time package of wall-to-wall muscle.

Now let’s head to the Civic Centre for Friday Night’s Belize City High Schools Basketball action as the Anglican Cathedral College plays host to Gwen Lizarraga High and ups folks these umbrellas are not a fashion statement but a reaction to the very serious downpour.

Down by a point with under three minutes to intermission, Gwen Liz’s Jose Trejeque gets a rejection slip from Jaret Jones but Akeem Tench puts up the pill to swish in the bucket.

ACC’s reply comes from Zebedee Peterson who strikes for three and at the half ACC is up by three points.

Immediately, into second half, Zebedee Peterson misfires but Ashley Hemsley is right there to rescue him with an assist in statistical column for Gwen Liz.

Of course, Gwen Liz does have its version of the missed shot converted into an assist when Dave Polonio misses badly but Jose Trejeque to make it count.

Meanwhile, this bad pass by ACC’s Dominguez is easily intercepted which leads to this easy lay up for Ray Bonnett. He would convert the extra point and pull ACC to within two.

ACC ties, the ballgame at thirty points apiece when Jaret Jones mounts this individual effort that would add three needed points to its total.

Gwen Liz comes right back with good ball movement which results to two lay up point for George Smith.

With seven minutes to long whistle Jaret Jones pulls up for three–hits it but failed to make it a four-point play by missing the foul shot–he would finish with eleven points.

Gwen Liz nevertheless answers with this three by Jose Trejeque.

With one minute and forty-two seconds to go people, Gwen Liz is up by one. So ACC goes to Justin West and he lays it off the glass for a forty-eight/forty-seven ACC lead.

It’s getting late so Gwen Liz goes for the win but Dave Polonio comes up slow after being fowled. He misses both free throws as ACC goes on to post the forty-eight/forty-seven big W.

Finally folks, in volleyball news, we want to say congratulations to St. Johns College of Belize City who beat the Toledo Community College fifteen/twenty five, twenty-five/fourteen and fifteen/five to take the male title at the National Secondary Schools Volleyball Championships Tournament staged at Toledo over the weekend. On the female side, Independence disposed of St. Catherine Academy in two straight sets twenty-five/eight, twenty-five/ten to claim that title and we say good show.

Hey folks, that’s our show for today. We invite you back same time, same place next week. Jah over all, I’m James Adderley.
