Guatemalans arrested for Bullet Tree robbery
Police have made arrests in two recent crimes in the Cayo District. Eighteen-year-old Usiel Orellano and seventeen-year-old Bryen Orellano, both Guatemalans, are believed to be part of a gang from across the border responsible for several recent hold-ups. In this instance, they have been charged with the robbery of a bar in Bullet Tree Village that occurred on October thirtieth. The proprietor had reported that on the night in question eight Hispanic men, all armed with guns, had entered the bar and forced her to turn over five hundred and forty dollars in cash along with other items including beer, cigarettes and CDs. The suspects were caught when several days later some villagers who witnessed the robbery called police to say that they had seen the same men back in the area of Bullet Tree. When officers arrived on the scene they apprehended the Orellanos, but four other men with them managed to run away, presumably across the border. The Orellanos have been remanded to Hattieville prison pending their trial in the Supreme Court.
