100 years and counting…
It’s a rainy Friday night and I can’t think of a better time to present a story that will start your weekend with the kind of warm inspiration that these days seems to be in short supply. Jacqueline Woods reports from Belmopan.

Two days ago, I celebrated my fortieth birthday but imagine living for a century. On Saturday, Charles Harold Bevans will be celebrating his one hundredth year on earth, but don?t tell that to this soon to be centenarian who seem to still have as much energy as men half his age.
Bevans says besides some memory, hearing and vision loss he remains fairly healthy having suffered no major illnesses. A former Justice of the Peace, Bevans was born on November sixth, 1904 in Sittee River. Twenty-eight years later, he married Petrona Carroll and the couple had ten children of nine of whom are still alive. In 1982 Bevans lost his wife, but the family remained very close. Today Bevans says he is grateful that he not only has his sons and daughters but twenty-six grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren and one great great grandchild?another on the way.

?Tomorrow you will be one hundred years old. How do you feel??

?I feel bright.?

?Where do you get all of this energy from??
Charles Harold Bevans
?The good Lord shoulder me; he makes me strong and he my life up to now.?
?I dance, I swim, and I do everything what the people they like. I won?t curse you and I won?t talk bad about you, I love you.?
Bevans says besides his great faith he offers the following advice for a long, healthy and happy life. Live lovingly, avoid quarrels, eat small portions of good food, keep moving, and take just one drink at night. Bevan?s sixty-nine year old daughter, Sister Germaine, who put together a scrap book that chronicles the life of her father, had this to say on behalf of her family.
