K9 Unit’s Basco Sniffs Out Weed from BDF Couple
This morning at the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, before Senior Magistrate, Sharon Fraser, a newlywed couple was read a single charge of possession of controlled drugs, being forty grams of cannabis which is equivalent to one and a half ounce of the drug. Acting on a tip, police searched the home of B.D.F. Corporal William Swan and his wife Carmelita Games on Fabers Road early on Saturday morning. They found the drug in a Lala yogurt container under their bed. It was sniffed out by Basco from the K-nine Unit. Carmelita took the rap and told the Senior Magistrate that the weed was for recreational purposes. The couple got married on February first and planned to use it to celebrate with friends at a gathering they were planning. Carmelita also said that her husband had no knowledge that there was weed in their house. She then took a guilty plea and in mitigation, she told the court that she is a first time offender. The Senior Magistrate fined her four hundred dollars which she must pay by April thirtieth.
