Four Arrested for Fake Drivers’ Licenses in San Pedro
San Pedro Police are also investigating a widespread forgery ring – specifically fake Orange Walk drivers’ licenses. From what we’ve been able to determine, these persons purchase forged licenses, with the objective of renewing them legitimately – exchanging fake for real, so to speak. And it would probably have worked, except that a vigilant transport officer at the San Pedro Town Board caught up and sounded the alarm.
Insp. Henry Jemott, Deputy Coastal Executive Officer
“We have arrested four person, the last Friday of last week. We have seen an increase in persons using drivers’ licenses which are forged. It is not an original drivers’ license issued by the Orange Walk Town Board. The quick work of the town Council in recognizing this has led to the arrest of four people. We are still doing an investigation because we have received information about the mastermind behind it and we are still working to nab this person.”

“Is it believed that there are more persons in possession of these fraudulent licenses?”
Insp. Henry Jemott
“Yes. There are more. So I am appealing to all stations, all City Councils…properly make background checks before renewing licenses especially from the Orange Walk District.”
We also spoke to Orange Walk Town Mayor, Kevin Bernard, who told us that they have been sounding the alarm since the first fake card was discovered. He verified that the forged document is completely different from that being issued at the Transport Office in that municipality.
