Who Stole Equipment from a BDF Base in PG?

There was a serious breach of security at Fairweather Camp sometime overnight on Tuesday which resulted in the theft of various military uniforms and boots. On Wednesday morning, the Quarter Master in charge of equipment and stores at the Belize Defense Force installation in Punta Gorda reported to police that a burglary had occurred at the base sometime between six p.m. and ten-thirty a.m. The storeroom where uniform and other equipment are kept was broken into and it is believed that the theft was an inside job. The intruder gained entry into the warehouse by prying the padlock at the front door. According to Superintendent Simeon Alvarez, Punta Gorda police are working closely with B.D.F. brass to solve the crime.

“On Wednesday the twenty-fourth of February, 2016, sometime around ten-thirty AM Raymond Clark, thirty-eight-years-old, Belizean Staff Sergeant and Commander at the Fairweather Camp Punta Gorda Town reported that sometime between the hours of six PM on the 23rd and ten-thirty AM on the 24th, he said a store room was broken into. Stolen form there is assorted B.D.F. boots and uniform, to a total amount unknown at this time.”

“Is there a suspect that you guys are looking for in terms of this burglary? Where are you guys in terms of the investigation?”

“Presently we are working very closely with the B.D.F. commander to see how we could solve this case because they suspect that it could only ne a soldier responsible for this particular burglary.”

“In terms of the security on that compound, is it found that there was an officer on duty at the time of this burglary or was the compound abandoned?”

“I do believe that the B.D.F. officers work on a twenty-four hour basis on the camp and I believe that around this time there were officers on duty.”
