Man charged with offering police a bribe
They say when ?trouble ketch yo, pickney shut fit you.? But a Seine Bight resident probably never heard of that old saying and his lack of better judgment earned him a swift meeting with the judge. Around two o?clock on Tuesday morning, Placencia police stopped a Ford Ranger, found that it was uninsured and unlicensed. When they informed the driver Pablo Perez of their discovery, police say he casually pulled out two blue notes and offered it to P.C. Matthew Lopez. Not amused by the attempt to bribe him, Lopez promptly arrested Perez and charged him for the crimes of driving an unlicensed motor vehicle and driving a vehicle not covered by third party insurance, and bribery. When he appeared in the Dangriga Magistrate?s Court this morning, Perez was convicted on all charges. The magistrate fined him five hundred dollars for the traffic offences and two hundred dollars for bribery. But Perez was not off the hook that easily as he has been disqualified from driving for twelve months for operating a motor vehicle not covered by third party insurance.
