RED Police Continue to Investigate Alleged Suicide Stabbing
A locus retracing the sequence of events resulting in the stabbing death of Salvadoran national Oscar Gomez has been completed. Despite making progress in the ongoing investigation, Ladyville police are tonight no closer to closing the case. It remains unclear whether Gomez stabbed himself while intoxicated or if he was fatally injured by someone he was socializing with on Thursday night. Gomez and another man had been drinking excessively at a residence in Lord’s Bank when the deadly wound was inflicted. In the wake of the incident that person was detained for questioning and subsequently released.
ACP Edward Broaster, Regional Commander, Rural Eastern Division
“As it pertains to the stabbing death of Mr. Gomez, we are still doing some investigation. As a matter of fact, we are awaiting the post mortem. We did a mock scene where we had the witness re-enact to us what actually transpired and we are still leaving it open due to the wounds that Mr. Gomez received. We want to satisfy ourselves that what is being told to us is actually what occurred, hence the reason why we are continuing to do more investigation. We have spoken to one family member and we want to speak to more family members, as well and we know that he’s from El Salvador. And after the post mortem is conducted then we will look at where we will go from the purported suicide.”
