Fight on bus leaves 1 dead, 1 injured
Meanwhile police in Orange Walk have charged one man with murder after a fight with a pair of brothers in the bus terminal led to a fatal stabbing. According to police reports, around eight thirty on Friday night, Oscar and Elmer Pech got onto the last bus bound for Corozal Town. But within minutes, the duo encountered a passenger with whom they had had previous misunderstandings. News 5 understands that person, identified as twenty-one year Brandon Valencia said something to the brothers and immediately, the situation deteriorated to violence. In the scuffle, it is alleged that Valencia pulled out a sharp object, which he used to stab Elmer in his left chest and upper back while Oscar was struck in his right leg and left arm. Both men were taken to the Northern Regional Hospital and while Oscar has since been treated and released, Elmer succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. Police investigations led them to Valencia in San Juaquin Village in the Corozal District and he has since been charged with one count of murder and one count of wounding. He appeared in Orange Walk’s Magistrate’s Court today and has been remanded to Hattieville Prison until October twenty-second.
