Javier Constantino is Arraigned for Common Assault, Gets 3 years for Prior Offense
Thirty-nine year old Javier Constantino, a Belize City resident, was before the court on Wednesday for a charge of common assault but an old conviction came back to haunt him and landed him behind bars. The new charge of common assault relates to an incident against his brother Corey Constantino which occurred on March twenty-eighth, 2016. Corey claims Javier choked and inflicted several scratches to his body. In the court room of Magistrate Deborah Rogers, Javier pleaded not guilty to the charge and since there was no objection by the prosecutor, he was offered bail in the sum of five hundred dollars. But the court records turned up an old bill of ten thousand dollars that Javier picked up in 2012 for drug trafficking. For that, he was sent to prison for three years. The unexpected turn of events, caused his family to break-down as they saw him sent away to prison.
