Suspected Guat. robbers ambush village store in Cayo

Story Picture
Tonight, Cayo police are on a manhunt for five bandits who robbed a store and its customers in Bullet Tree Village. According to the authorities, just after seven on Tuesday night, thirty-six year old Guo Lian Wu was behind his counter at Max’s Store when suddenly, five men armed with handguns burst into the building and speaking in Spanish, demanded money. Guo says he handed over thirteen hundred Belize dollars in cash. That’s when the thieves turned their attention to the five patrons inside the store, taking all their money and jewellery and at least one man’s car key. The band of robbers jumped into the man’s vehicle, described as a small car, and disappeared into the night. Police later discovered the car abandoned on a dirt road leading to Garbutt’s Falls, located near the Belize Guatemala border. It is strongly suspected that the thieves came from across the border and Belizean investigators are sharing information on the case with their counterparts in Melchor de Mencos. If you have any information that might bring the criminals to justice, please contact the nearest police station or 9-2-2.
