Stabbing in San Pedro ends in arrest/charges

An attempted robbery on Ambergris Caye has left the victim hospitalized but the bad guy is in police custody. According to officers stationed in San Pedro, thirty-nine year old Said Juan was in the San Juan area of the town on Sunday night with friends and family but sometime after ten, he was attacked by a group of men. Determined to keep his money, Juan said he fought back and for his efforts one of his assailants took out a knife and stabbed him on his upper left leg. The group then ran away. When police arrived at the scene, they loaded Juan into the mobile unit to take him to the doctor. But on the way there, Juan spotted the knife man on the street and the cops immediately detained him. He has since been identified as twenty-three year old Kurt Castillo, who is charged with dangerous harm and use of deadly means of harm. San Pedro police tell News 5 that of late a number of mainlanders have descended on the island with apparently, the sole purpose of participating in illegal and violent activity.
