Sandhill footballers brave wind, rain & mud to play

James Adderley Reporting
Good evening, I?m James Adderley and we?re back with another serving of Sports Monday. Let?s jump into the thick of it folks as we take you to the Sandhill Field for Week III of the Reginald Jex Challenge Cup which was staged yesterday.
And we can tell you right off the bat that it?s a supreme challenge indeed playing football under these severe climatic conditions, but the Sandhill show does go on.
Meanwhile it?s Press On with a 2 to 1 lead in the second half play. They?re on defence right here as Pueblo Escondido does its very best to come up with the equalizer–but the terrain certainly works in favour of the team in green.
However, off this corner kick the Escondido team does come up with the equalizer thanks to this push from Luscious Sanders and we?ve got a 2 to 2 ballgame.
Pueblo Escondido gets this opportunity with the steal the victory with this opportunity, but Jack Dawson?s attempt is failed by the goalkeeper–the stalemate holds up through regulation play.
So we go to Game II as Lucky Strike Eagles take on Spanish Town who mounts the first serious attack on goal but come away empty.
The Eagles respond with this nice service from off the right wing that Kevin Leslie should have converted but we?ll blame it on the pitch.
Nevertheless it?s Spanish Town with the lead when Sanjay Pitts steals and pass his man to power this left foot into the net for the 1-zip lead.
This wakes up Eagles who counter with this severe press that creates excitement but gets no goal.
Folks we must apologize missing the equalizer for the Eagles from Tyrone Muschamp, but at least you can see him being congratulated and at the half it?s a 1-1 ballgame.
In second half El Pueblo, Sanjay Pitts has an easy goal to score, but the condition of the field might have played a role in this inability to covert.
Meanwhile folks, Tyrone Muschamp gets taken down inside the eighteen and when referee Clother rules penalty he immediately becomes the object of disgust from Spanish Town. So he identifies number eleven Roberta Acosta as the chief offender–and a red card reduces their rooster to 10.
When calm is restored Muschamp steps to score his second goal of the match to give his team a 2-1 lead.
In the meantime you do remember Mark Zuniga from last week?s schedule well he makes amends for all those misses by giving the Eagle a 3-1 lead here.
For its part Spanish Town show no quit as number fourteen Sanjay Pitts stays with this play to make it a 3-2 ballgame.
But this easy goal by Tyrone Muschamp completes his hat torch and gives the Lucky Strike Eagles a 4-2 regulation big W.
In the other match on the schedule Untouchables edged Hardcore in a 4-3 final score.
In other football news folks, the BPFL?s Commissioner Cup is scheduled to kick off this weekend featuring the eight teams in this year?s upcoming semi-pro season. But there?s a proposal to push back opening date for a week. The BPFL Contingent General Assembly is scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday October fifth, to arrive at a decision so stay tuned.
Finally in closing folks, we certainly want to congratulate Tijuana Barrow of Orange who beat Advance Advertising of Belize City for the National Guinness eighth-ball pool tournament title. Hey congratulations from us all here at Channel 5. That?s it for now. Thanks to all our cameramen for the great work over the weekend. Jah over all, I?m James Adderley.
