Wounded shooting victim was bystander

In a correction to a story we ran on Monday, today twenty-five year old Dennis Belgrave called our newsroom to say he was not in the company of Nehru Smith and Clive Flowers when both men were shot and killed on Saturday night. Belgrave says he was riding home on his bicycle when upon reaching the corner of George and Church streets, he heard shots and then felt a burning in his left calf. That’s when he noticed he was wounded. Belgrave says he did not see who fired the shots, but he rode as fast as he could until he reached home and reported the incident to his father. Belgrave was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released.
