Shooting victims won?t cooperate with cops
Late Friday night shots rang out in Belize City and unlike Sunday morning’s victims, these two men are still among us, the difference between life and death being only a few inches. One of the wounded was philosophical about his brush with death.
Alex Myers, Shooting Victim
?It no make no sense to talk about that because that is just like nothing, check. This the everyday thing; this is just life;. It no make no sense to say change because that will never change it. Life is for real. Everyday the just natural; you never know what will happen.?
Jacqueline Woods, Reporting
And that is exactly what happened to twenty-four year old Alex Myers and forty four year old Mark Staine. Myers, who agreed to speak to us about the incident, received gunshot wounds mostly to his abdomen. The bullets injured Myers lung and kidneys.
Alex Myers
?I just mi di hang by Ebony Street, where I usually hang out everyday and I was talking to my friend?s ma when a white vehicle just approached us and just start shoot up a lot of shot. Only that I could remember. I remember when I got the first shot, I never dropped so I took my drink and throw it in the person?s face who shot me and he shot me again. Then I start to run. He shot me in my side by my buttocks and that?s the lost shot I got. Then they bring me to the hospital.?
?Well when I first got here it was kinda bad due the kidney and my lungs weh get destroyed. But I di heal up daily. I made it trough the worst of it so I think I am alright now.?
Myers say she does not know why he was shot and if he knows the identity of his assailant, he is not talking. So far, no suspects have been detained. Jacqueline Woods for News Five.
Police say both Myers and Staine have refused to cooperate with the investigation.
