Unidentified body found floating at Barracks

Police are trying to determine the identity of a female corpse that was found floating in the waters just off BTL Park on Newtown Barracks. The discovery was made around eleven twenty this morning by people in the area. The woman is believed to be in her late fifties or early sixties, of clear complexion, five feet tall and was clad in a blue tee shirt and light green cotton shorts. Authorities say they cannot confirm reports that the woman is a foreigner or how she may have died. When the body was retrieved from the waters police did not observe any obvious signs of violence. The corpse was transported to the city’s morgue where it awaits a post mortem.
