Two arrested for Cayo resort robbery

Thanks to a joint effort by the community and police of Benque Viejo Del Carmen, authorities have arrested two young men they suspect were the culprits who held up the Clarissa Falls Resort. According to police, around eleven on Friday night the manager of the resort, which lies along the Mopan River between Benque and San Ignacio, reported that she was accosted by two armed masked men after she responded to a knock on the door. One of the men put a gun to her head and demanded money. According to the police, they escaped with cash in various currencies including Belizean, Mexican and American. Today the police arrested nineteen-year-old Benqueno Hector de la Fuente and twenty-seven year old Jonathan Bahadur of Santa Elena and charged both with robbery, aggravated burglary, conspiracy to commit robbery and conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary.
