Was Shooting After Fishing Trip an Accident?

A man is currently listed in stable condition at the Western Regional Hospital in Belmopan after he was rushed there this afternoon with a gunshot injury. According to a very preliminary investigation, Belmopan Police say that just after two o’clock, Doni Polanco and his father-in-law Emilio Arevalo were returning from a fishing trip to Frank’s Eddy Village. Polanco’s licensed sixteen gauge shotgun allegedly got caught up in some shrubs on the path and fired, catching Arevalo in the right lower back. Arevalo was taken to the W.R.H. and Police commenced an investigation. This evening, sources tell us that it is likely that the incident will be classified as an accidental injury.
