Ladyville Men Charged for Shooting Spree
While a duo has been freed, two teenagers who surrendered to police on Tuesday are on remand at the Belize Central Prison for a shooting spree on Marage Road, Ladyville which ended in the death of Lionel Rhamdas. Police slapped a total of nine charges on Egbert Baldwin and Darwin Prado, both eighteen years old. They were charged jointly with three counts of attempted murder upon Terence Flowers Junior, Casey Lozano, and Lyndon Gillett, who were all injured in the shooting. They are also facing charges of deadly means of harm for the use of a firearm and dangerous harm upon the three men. When they were arraigned before Magistrate Emmerita Anderson, Baldwin blurted that he was not in Ladyville at the time of the shooting, but in Libertad. He was told there was no need to provide an explanation at this time and due to the nature of the offenses, the two were remanded into custody at the Belize Central Prison until August fifteenth, 2016. Rhamdas was killed on Saturday night; his body was found on Marage Road with gunshot wounds after police say he, Baldwin and Prado made an attempt on the lives of the group of men. A nine millimetre pistol was near his body. Police investigations reveal that four men were socializing at a house on Marage Road when they were accosted by three men. Shots were fired and in a crossfire, Rhamdas was killed. Baldwin and Prado are due back in court on August fifteenth.
