Infant drowns in Rio Hondo River…

At the top of the newscast we reported that two year old Ezekiel Tejeda died during surgery at the Northern Regional Hospital in Orange Walk Town. Well, there are two more deaths to report, also in Orange Walk. The first involves a three year old child who lost his life during a family outing. The family drove from Burns Street to San Roman Village and went swimming. It was during this Sunday outing that three year old Joshua Esquivel drowned in the Rio Hondo River. Detective Corporal Jeffery Williams says that the police investigation continues into this incident.

“Police visited Northern Regional Hospital where they saw three year old Joshua Axel Esquivel lying motionless on a bed. The mother, Jessica Esquivel, thirty years, reported that she went with her son swimming in the Rio Hondo River on the twenty-eighth, Sunday, about four p.m. The boy went under and the boy went under and never resurfaced.”

“There were a lot of people here. They were having a party then they noticed the boy was lost. Everyone started looking for him, nobody saw what happened. Six young men came by who knew how to dive. They started looking for him in the water. One of them found the little boy at the bottom, they took him out. He was already dead.”
