Mental patient charged for attack of 86-yr.old
Police in San Ignacio have arrested and charged a thirty seven year old man from Calla Creek village, following a violent chopping incident on Thursday that left three people wounded. Jesus Carillo, identified by police as being mentally ill, has been charged with the crimes of attempted murder, dangerous harm, use of deadly means of harm, wounding, and aggravated assault. Carillo is currently behind bars in San Ignacio, pending a hearing in Magistrate’s court, which will ultimately determine if he is fit to stand trail. He is accused of attacking eighty-six year old Alejandro Itzab of Santa Elena town, chopping him in the face, arm and chest. Two other people, including Francis Perez, were also wounded as they attempted to detain Carillo following the attack against Itzab. The elderly victim continues to recover from his injuries tonight at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.
