Bzean musicians to hold benefit concert at Bliss
While there is no doubt that Belize is steeped in talent, there?s also no denying that local artists have very few opportunities to develop their gifts. But one young lady refused to be overwhelmed by reality and has continued to make strides in her aptitude, music. And this weekend, she is just one Belizean that will be featured in a special concert at the Bliss Centre for the Performing Arts. Patrick Jones has more.

The sound of music that will permeate the Bliss Centre for performing arts this weekend will come from the fingers, and hearts of the students of the Pallotti Music School.
Saturday?s concert will feature headline artists Daniela Gongora and Manabu Takasawa performing Brahm?s piano and violin Sonata. Gongora says the effort will assist the aspirations of the students of the Pallotti Music School.

It?s also a way to with the students, with the Belizean audience a different type of music; something different to go to. We like to educate our students, we like to educate the audience and just share that kind of music because it?s lovely and that?s we?re striving for?
Takasawa says the pieces that the performers will bring to the stage on Saturday night will evoke a range of emotions.
Manabu Takasawa, Concert Pianist
?At least for me, it does everything. It has all the emotion that people have usually, happiness, sadness, anger, you know everything. For me it?s a way to express myself. Some people like to express themselves with other means, but what I do with using the piano.?
And while he?s versed in the piano, Takasawa is also taking time to help up and coming artists reach their full potential.
Manabu Takasawa
?She is a student is a student and she is not used to playing with professional musicians. So she was very timid about the whole thing and she wasn?t as confident, as she could have been because she prepared well. So when you?re playing with others you have to make music as a whole, you cannot just play by yourself. So she was very scared about the whole process and that comes out in music. You have to act like you?re really good and you know this music very well.?
In addition to Brahm?s Piano and violin Sonata, the program for Saturday?s concert will feature an impressive array of other pieces, including the Swan, a movement from a Sonata by Cesar Frank and solo pieces. So, who should attend the concert?
Daniela Gongora
?Everyone who is open to just enjoy listening to music; music is the universal language. And no matter if it?s drumming of music or a violin playing, they all give a message; where as they have different cultures where they enjoy dancing, they have cultures that enjoy just sitting and enjoy listening to the performers. It?s great to have a variety; we are in a very diverse society here in Belize, so.?
Patrick Jones, for News Five.
Tickets for the show are twenty dollars each and can be bought at the Bliss Centre for the Performing Arts and at CY?s Music. Saturday?s concert starts at 7 PM.
