San Ignacio Police Investigate Alleged Arson in the West

Just after seven on Wednesday night, Ego Rio Bar in Santa Familia Village, Cayo District was gutted by fire. San Ignacio Police and Fire Departments responded to a call in the area and found the wooden structure engulf in flames. Initial investigation revealed that the owner, sixty-year-old Manuel Humes, left the location secured around six-thirty p.m.  Thirty minutes later, he received a call from his daughter that the bar was on fire. Humes claims that the value of the loss is approximately twenty thousand dollars, but the bar was not insured.  Investigations continue into the cause of the blaze.
