Ex cop charged with arson spree
While Frutos will most likely not spend the night in jail, the same cannot be said about another Santa Elena resident. Twenty-seven year old Nicholas Flores has been charged for several counts of arson and assault, after a dispute with his common-law relatives turned violent. San Ignacio police say that Flores was involved in a misunderstanding with his brother-in-law over the weekend, when somehow his father-in-law, Hugh Flowers, and mother-in-law, Rosella Jackson, got involved. During the altercation, Flores, a former police officer, is reported to have set his father-in-law?s government issued vehicle on fire, along with two other buildings owned by Flowers. Quick response from the Fire Department kept damages to a minimum. By the time tempers cooled, Flores was slapped with charges of using insulting words to his father-in-law, common assault against his mother-in-law, wounding of his brother-in-law and arson. Flores is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, at which time the Magistrate will determine is he is to be granted bail, since arson is an indictable matter.
