73-year-old murdered on Hummingbird
She was reported missing on Sunday night, but indications are that she was missing days earlier. At around eleven this morning, police found the body of seventy-three year old Mary Jane Blondell partially buried in a shallow grave off the Hummingbird Highway near mile twenty-five. Blondell, a naturalized Belizean, was a long-time resident of the picturesque area and several years ago moved from the roadside to divide her time between Santa Elena, Cayo, and a large farm near Five Blues Lake. How she died is not known, but a scheduled post mortem examination should shed some light on what appears to be a murder. While police continue to search for clues in the death of Blondell, they have detained two persons whom they believe could assist in their investigation.
