Appeal denied, Hertular faces extradition
He?s wanted by the Feds on serious drug charges and tonight Robert Hertular is one-step closer to taking up residence on Rikers Island. On June fourth, Chief Magistrate Herbert Lord upheld the U.S. extradition request and today Acting Justice Denys Barrow dismissed Hertular?s application for a writ of Habeas Corpus, which alleged that the prisoner?s detention was unlawful. This ruling now paves the way for Hertular?s extradition by the Belize Government to New York where he will stand trial on charges relating to the large-scale importation of cocaine into the United States.
