Post mortem says “Snakebite” was murder

The police thought that he was bitten by a snake. Relatives told News 5 they believe he died of natural causes as he had complained of stomach pains prior to his death. Today the mystery deepened as police pathologist Doctor Mario Estradabran released the findings an autopsy performed on the body of Jose Luis Mario Gonzalez. According to Estradabran, the forty two year old cane cutter’s death was caused by trauma to the chest inflicted by a blunt object. The resulting impact, according to Estradabran, caused bleeding in the lungs that led to a medical condition known as Acute Pulmonary Infarction. Estradabran concluded that Gonzalez died on Monday morning at least two hours after breakfast and sometime before midday. As to the family’s claim that Gonzalez complained of abdominal pains, Estradabran says he found the deceased man’s stomach severely inflamed and that he more than likely was suffering from chronic gastritis. The effect of the pathologist’s findings now leaves Orange Walk police with the formidable task of investigating a murder. It’s a radical turn of events from their earlier assumptions, and officer in charge of Orange Walk police, Mario Vernon, says the case file is virtually empty. No suspects or possible motives have been identified and anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the Crimestoppers hotline at 9-2-2.
