Anthony Crawford Busted with Weed, Fingered as Suspect in Monday Night Shooting
An attempted murder suspect who was fingered as one of two shooters in Monday night’s shooting in the city is tonight behind bars serving a one month prison term. Anthony Crawford was busted at the Queen Street Police Station in possession of a small quantity of marijuana in the detention cell area following the shooting. Crawford appeared this morning before Magistrate Carlon Mendoza and was arraigned for attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm and dangerous harm upon Anthony Leslie, aka “Columbian and one count of possession of a controlled drugs for three point grams of weed found in his sweater while in lock down at the Queen Street Police Station. In court, Crawford wasted no time and pleaded guilty to the drug charge. But since the records show he owes the court one hundred and five dollars for a previous conviction, Magistrate Mendoza imposed a custodial sentence upon him and sentenced him to one month imprisonment. But it doesn’t mean he will be out of jail because he will remain remanded for the attempted murder charge. Crawford was arrested on Tuesday of this week after Leslie identified him as one of two men who shot him the chest area in front of his home on Iguana Street Extension, Belize City. Police believe that Leslie’s shooting was not gang related but have reason to suspect that he was shot because he did not want to participate in illegal acts.
