Mexican David Dominquez Fined for Uncustommed Goods

Late this evening, the Customs Department dragged to court five Mexican nationals and two Belizeans from the San Jose, Orange Walk for uncustomed goods in respect of two hundred and fifteen hammocks. The items were found in their possession last week Thursday during a raid at mile seventeen on the Phillip Goldson Highway.  The group included David Dominguez, Arturo Matias, Nicholas Ruiz, Javier Jacanipo, Silvano Ruiz, and Belizeans, Oswaldo Mejia and Joan Mejia. They were taken to court late this evening and charged for recklessly carrying uncustomed goods.  Dominguez pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined a total of twenty-five thousand eight hundred dollars for the offense. Charges against the others were withdrawn. Since Dominguez was unable to pay his fine, he was held in custody by the Immigration Department until he can make the payment. He has until Tuesday to pay the fine or will have to serve two years in prison.
