2 Men Arraigned for San Benito Poite Murder

Two men have been arrested and charged for the murder of Francisco Ack, who was chopped to death in the remote southern village of San Benito Poite last Saturday.  Ack was hacked and left for dead in some bushes a short distance away from the primary school and was discovered sometime later by residents in the community.  Punta Gorda police have been investigating the homicide thoroughly and were able to crack the case when word of the murder began spreading in a neighboring village.  Four men have been detained and under questioning, two of them admitted to brutally attacking Ack.  Assistant Superintendent Clement Cacho details the arrest and subsequent arraignment.

On the Phone: ASP Clement Cacho, O.C., Punta Gorda Police

“Reference the chopping death of Mister Francisco Ack that occurred on the eighteenth June, 2016 at San Benito Poite, Punta Gorda Village, Punta Gorda police has formally arrested and charged Gilbeto Coc, nineteen year old Belizean farmer of San Benito Poite Village and David Tusch, eighteen year old Belizean farmer of San Benito Poite village jointly for the crime of murder of Francisco Ack. “What led to the arrest of these individuals?”

On the Phone: ASP Clement Cacho

“Well information was received of someone acting suspicious in another village and speaking of the murder. As a result of that that person was picked up, interviewed and it led to the detention of four persons. We interviewed and two of them confessed.”

“What is the motive? Did they tell you exactly what?”

On the Phone: ASP Clement Cacho

“Yes, they did. It is a bit sensitive so we’ll leave that for the courts to hear.”

Isani Cayetano

“Is there any other information with regards to this incident that we can share with us?”

On the Phone: ASP Clement Cacho

“Not necessarily, Mister Cayetano at this time. I don’t like to go into details of any investigation because it has to be played out in the court and it is kind of bias if the general public already hear some information and when it reaches the court, it tends to change. I don’t operate like that.”

While no arrests have been made in the murder of B.D.F. Private Orlando Rash, police are now turning their attention to investigating that matter.
