Was the U.S. Involved in Ahmad Investigation?

Fareed Ahmad

Six homes raided in a coordinated sweep, a Muslim family detained by Police, all electronic items seized and surely scrutinized, a warrant presented based on probable cause of a Conspiracy to Damage Property and Conspiracy to Commit Murder. It all sounds like the stuff of a Tom Clancy novel. Actually, it also sounds like a U.S.-information inspired raid on the offices of Titan International Securities and Unicorn International Securities. In that raid the Police seized all documents and equipment.  We know how that worked out in court when G.O.B. lost cases brought by both Titan and Unicorn to the tune of millions of dollars. But is a foreign entity involved in the Ahmad case?

Marco Vidal, Head, Special Branch

“In regards to what you may be alluding to, in the course of our investigation we can engage any foreign counterpart that can provide us with the expertise that we would require in order to bring a case, if that is the case.”

Reporter

“Was there any need for Interpol or any other organization like that in the past as it relates to this specific investigation or in the near future?”

Marco Vidal

Marco Vidal

“If we require the assistance of any international expert then we will so do.”

Reporter

“But you’re saying in the future or in the past?”

Marco Vidal

“In the investigation…we’re referring to the investigation.”

Reporter

“But at the moment you don’t think you will require it?”

Marco Vidal

“Well I can say we’re still investigating.”

Reporter

“But have you called them or anyone to date or at least up to the point of the detentions?”

Marco Vidal

“Like I said in this particular case we have sought expertise. We have sought assistance from the experts and that is in the normal course of any other investigation. We seek expertise from foreign agencies that can assist us with the investigation. So this is the normal course of the investigation.”
