To round off his sales pitch, the P.M. then launched into a costs-benefits analysis which he maintains is complete vindication of G.O.B.’s seven years of effort and fighting the good fight.

“Under Costs to G.O.B.: shares, one hundred and twenty-eight million U.S. dollars; interest, U.S. ninety-nine million dollars; arbitration costs awarded by the Panel, U.S. two point two million dollars.  Total…U.S. two hundred and twenty-nine million dollars or Belize four hundred and fifty-eight point four million dollars.  Under benefits to G.O.B.: share value at five Belize dollars, two hundred and twenty-six million dollars; AA savings, Belize two hundred and two million dollars; consumer savings, arrived at by way of the lower nationalized B.T.L. charges and service enhancements, one hundred and forty million dollars; dividends and taxes to date, Belize one hundred and six million dollars; dividends forecast over the next ten years, Belize one hundred million dollars. Total….Belize seven hundred and seventy-four million dollars.  That is why we feel utterly vindicated by the conclusion now of the long saga.”
