Donor helps YWCA fill pool
There is good news tonight for a whole lot of Belizean children. Although the final details have not been ironed out, it appears that the Y.W.C.A. will, in a few weeks time, be able to operate its swimming pool on St. Thomas Street and once again offer its range of popular swimming classes to the public. According to the Y’s Sonia Linares, she has been negotiating with B.W.S. and B.E.L. over some water and electricity arrears and today one generous Belize City business has made a five hundred dollar donation to get the water flowing. According to the managing partner of Sigertronics, Crios Munnings, there is no way they could have simply ignored the appeal and are calling on other business to also extend a helping hand.

?A few days ago, we saw on the news that the Y did not have any swimming classes in the summer programme and they indicated that the water supply was disconnected. So I was disheartened at that; I saw the need for us to do something. You look at the pool now you?ll see that it is completely empty, and I believe that Sigertronics Systems could be able to do something for the kids to bring water into the pool, to help. I would like to appeal to the business-houses to do the same thing to help out the Y. The Y has been around forever and they are probably going to be around for a longer time and we really and we really need to support them so they continue doing their part to support the kids.?
The YWCA says if all goes well with both utility companies, they expect the swim programme to start in two weeks time. The Y already has people who have volunteered to drain and clean the pool of water collected from recent rains and have it painted as well. If you would like to financially assist the YWCA and Belizean children you can contact the office at telephone number 203-4971.
I would like to talk to the manager of YWCA. I would like to arrange an appointment to ask questions and conduct a survey for my school (Nazarene High School). I am sorry for the inconvenience I may have cause for mailing this to you, but I would like it to be soon. Thank you for taking your time for reading this mail.
