Belizean fugitive busted in Chicago
Whether by extradition or kidnapping, they have been plucking their high value criminal suspects from Belize with regularity…but in a very short time the United States government will be shipping home one of Belize’s most wanted. His name is Jason Flores. In January of 1999 the then twenty-six year Flores allegedly abducted a ten-year-old girl in Dangriga and drove her outside of town where he raped her and beat her with a pipe. He was apprehended and charged with forcible abduction, use of deadly means of harm, attempted murder, rape, and dangerous harm. But while still on remand in September of 2000, Flores, along with two others, escaped from their holding cell at the Dangriga police station. Never caught, Flores made his way to the States and took up residence in Chicago where his presence was well known to many acquaintances back in Belize. On Friday, however, the good life in Babylon ended for Flores when he was busted in the Windy City with an illegal gun and five pounds of weed. According to a U.S. Embassy release, the arrest came as the result of a tip. Flores will shortly be turned over to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for eventual deportation to Belize.
