Woman shot in face. Boyfriend questioned
Belize City resident Crystal Woodye, believed to be in her early twenties, lies in a critical condition tonight at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. The young woman was inside her house on Neal’s Pen Road around eight this morning when she was shot in the face. The bullet entered Woodye’s left cheek and she has since undergone surgery. Police say because of Woodye’s delicate condition, they have been unable to determine exactly what happened. They have, however, been questioning the woman’s live-in boyfriend who was home at the time of the incident. Although News 5 understands the boyfriend is claiming that he had nothing to do with the shooting, reports suggest that he and his girlfriend were having an argument just before she was shot. Sources tell News 5 that the boyfriend has consistently threatened Woodye and even held a gun to her face in the past. Reports are that at the time of the incident, the front door was locked from inside and there is no evidence to suggest the young woman was shot by an intruder.
