New Rebels Band tours to raise AIDS awareness
As a group they are only six months old, but that hasn’t stopped the New Rebels Band from organising their first countrywide tour. The tour, which is designed to help raise awareness about HIV and AIDS, kicks off tonight in Dangriga. According to band members Joel Coleman and Elroy Martinez, one of the most effective ways to get the message across to their peers is through music and they are optimistic that the tour will be a success. This week the musicians stopped by our studios to talk about their upcoming performances and how they plan to help make a change in society.

?We see the need to educate our young musicians, the young people that are coming up in our society. We notice that AIDS is a problem, so we want to support one hundred percent. That?s the reason why we are doing this tour so that we can support and help the society to alleviate the HIV.?

?How will the tour be conducted??
Joel Coleman
?Well the tour will be conducted in every district of the country and we are hoping to get across the message through music and also through a little bit of education in the entertainment. We are going to issue out pamphlets about the virus; we will be issue out condoms; we are going to have a short session during to entertainment to speak with the people and ask them questions. It will be a one on one with the audience so that we know how much they know about the HIV virus and AIDS.?
Tickets for each show are selling at ten dollars for men, while ladies pay eight. High school students with I.D. enter for seven dollars and children will pay five dollars to see the performance. The New Rebels Band will be accompanied on their nationwide tour by band manager, Super G.
