Man critically wounded in North Front St. shooting

Story Picture
A man is fighting for his life tonight in the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital after he was gunned down early this morning in Belize City. Responding to reports of a shooting on North Front Street around twelve-thirty this morning, police found forty-one year old Herbert Wiltshire suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. While investigators were unable to question the victim at length, Wiltshire did managed to tell police that he was walking near the junction of North Front and Pickstock streets when a black Suzuki Sidekick drove up beside him and a person, described only as being of dark complexion, exited and opened fire. When the gun fell silent, Wiltshire lay critically wounded on the street with injuries to his back, neck, and face. He was transported to the K.H.M.H. and this afternoon authorities told News 5 that Wiltshire was undergoing surgery. Police have since impounded a vehicle matching the description given to them by Wiltshire and one person has been detained for questioning. Wiltshire is no stranger to law enforcement. He was accused of the sensational 1992 murder of Derek “Itza” Brown at the National Stadium, and in 2001, was a suspect in the robbery of the Food and Beverage Company in Ladyville. His brother, Trevor, was murdered in April of last year at the Salt Creek firing range near Sand Hill Village.
